Style Icon: Kate Lanphear

Hola a todos! Hoy inauguraré una nueva sección del blog llamada Style Icon, en la que os mostraré algunas mujeres a quienes yo considero referentes en el mundo de la moda y como imitar algunos de sus outfits. Para empezar, os mostraré una de las mujeres a las que más admiro: Kate Lanphear.

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to start a new blog section called Style Icon, in which I'm going to show you some woman that I think that are concerning in the fashion world and how to imitate their outfits. To start I'll introduce you one of the women I admire the most: Kate Lanphear.

¿QUIÉN es Kate Lanphear? Kate Lanphear es la directora de estilo de Elle USA y ha trabajado también en Vogue y Harper's Bazaar.

WHO is Kate Lanphear? Kate Lanphear is Elle USA fashion director and has also worked in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

Su estilo en 5 PALABRAS: punk, platino, crop, negro y andrógino.

Her style in 5 WORDS: punk, platinum, crop, black, and androgynous.

Kate Lanphear sigue un estilo en el que los total black looks cobran protagonismo y se ven rotos por su corte crop y platino. Muchas veces juega con volúmenes y cortes, creando un outfit moderno pero sin someterse a la moda y sus mandamientos, siendo siempre fiel a su estilo andrógino (unisex, a caballo entre las formas que usan los hombres y las mujeres) con reminiscencias punk.

Kate Lanphear follows an style in which total black looks are the stars and they are broken by her crop platinum hairstyle. She plays with volumes and shapes a lot of times, creating a modern outfit without submitting it to the fashion and its commandments. She is always loyal to her androgynous style (unisex, that is between men and women shapes) with punk reminiscences.

Lady + Sporty

¡Hola bomboncitos! La moda muchas veces es el resultado de un juego de formas y contrastes, de un juego en el que el buen gusto para unir estilos opuestos puede ser la clave, y esto es lo que quiero mostraros con mi outfit de hoy, que muchas veces los aparentes enemigos pueden formar una unión ganadora y diferente; repleta de frescura y personalidad. De este modo, también he optado por el contraste entre materiales, en el que la opacidad de algunos se ve suavizada por la translucidez de otros, consiguiendo de este modo que la luz sea protagonista de un total black look. ¡Deseo que os guste!

Hey sweeties! A lot of times fashion is the result of a shapes and contrasts game, a game in wich the good taste to mix opposite styles can be the key, and this is what I want to show you with today's outfit, that sometimes apparent enemies can create a winner combination; full of freshness and personality. This way, I've also decided to use the contrast between fabrics, in which the opacity of some of them is relaxed by the translucency of others, making the light be the total black look star. ¡I hope you like it!

DIY: Crop top

Hola preciosidades! Últimamente sé que soy MUY pesada con los crop tops, este no es el primer post que escribo sobre ellos, pero estoy irremediablemente enamorada de como quedan. Tal y como os dije, creo que un croptop debe ir acompañado de unos pantalones o una falda de tiro alto, es decir, que vayan por la cintura, a no ser que queráis pareceros a Miley Cyrus, en cuyo caso os recomiendo que directamente vayáis en bragas, o sin ellas.

Bajo mi punto de vista, la diosa en potencia de los crop tops es Cara Delevingne, que los acostumbra a llevar para formar lo que se llama tomboy style, que es un estilo un tanto masculino y deportivo, pero que se suaviza con la figura de los crop tops.

Hey gorgeous! I know that I'm being REALLY awkward with crop tops these last days, this isn't the first post in which I talk about them, but I've irremediably fallen in love with them and how they suit. As I told you, I think that a crop top must be worn together with high waist jeans or skirts unless you want to be like Miley Cyrus, in which case I advice you to wear panties, or directly not to wear anything.

From my point of view, crop tops queen is definitely Cara Delevinge, who usually wear them to create her particular tomboy style, which is a male and sporty style which smoothes with crop tops.

Otras de las asiduas a los crop tops son Rita Ora y Azealia Banks.

Pero sin lugar a dudas, cuando hablo de crop tops no puedo evitar recordar a Gwen Stefani durante los inicios de No Doubt y a la amplia variedad de crop tops que llevó en aquella época.

But without any doubts, when I talk about crop tops I can't avoid thinking of Gwen Stefani during No Doubt beginings and the whole variety of crop tops she wore during that time.

Bien, tras introduciros un poco en materia, hoy os traigo un DIY en el que os muestro como aprovechar aquellos leggings que ya no uséis para crear un crop top.

Ok, after introducing you a little bit more on the subject, today I show you a DIY in which I show you how to take advantage of those old leggings that you don't use to create a crop top.

Tal y como veis en la imagen, es tan fácil como cortar la parte entre las dos perneras de los leggings en forma de triángulo. De este modo, este triángulo se corresponderá con un escote de pico y las perneras serán las mangas de nuestro crop top. Personalmente os recomiendo que hagáis el triángulo pequeño y en caso de que lo necesitéis lo agrandáis posteriormente, ya que podríais pasaros con el escote. En cuanto a las mangas, si resultan demasiado largas siempre se pueden doblar o cortar, en cuyo caso podríais optar también por un crop top de manga corta o tirantes.

Aquí podéis ver mi outfit de hoy en el que llevo un crop top que hice a partir de unos leggings de lana de Calzedonia. ¡Espero que os guste!

As you can see in this picture, is as easy as cutting the part between both legs in a triangle shape. This way, the triangle will be a V neck and the legs will be our crop top's sleeves. Personally, I recommend you to make a little triangle and, if you need it, enlarge it later, because you could cut too much and have an enormous neck. Regarding to the sleeves, if they're too long you always can fold or cut them, if you choose the second option, you also can create an sleeveless crop top.

Here you can see my outfit in which I wear a crop top I did from an old pair of woolen leggings I bought in Calzedonia. I hope you like it!

Cutiest thing

En esta vida te cruzas con personas que no sabes si son más bellas por dentro o por fuera: Enya es una de estas personas para mi. Con estas fotografías he tratado de mostrar a Enya tal y como la veo yo, su calidez, su delicadeza y su forma de brillar cuando ríe. Con ella he tratado de acercaros la calidez del invierno, su acogida, la sensación de refugio que solo encuentras en esta época del año y que se parece a la que yo siento cuando estoy con ella y me ayuda a aislarme de mis preocupaciones. Os presento a mi mejor amiga, bella por dentro y por fuera.

In this life sometimes you find some people who you don't really know if they're more beautiful from the inside or from the outside: Enya is one of them for me. With these photographies I've wanted to show you Enya as I see her, her warmth, her delicacy and her way to shine everytime she smiles. With her I've tried to get the winter warmth closer to you, its reception, that feeling of refuge that you can only find during this season and that its really similar to that feeling I feel when I'm with her and she helps me to isolate from my worries. I introduce you my best friend, beautiful from the outside and the inside.

New Years's Eve Dress

Hace poquito que fue la noche de fin de año, una de las más esperadas y, sin duda, la noche en la que más tiempo me paso decidiendo cuál será el vestido perfecto. Este año quería encontrar algo sencillo y elegante, con un buen corte pero en el que el protagonista fuera mi cuerpo y no los volúmenes del vestido y, bajo mi sorpresa, lo encontré en Bershka. Decidí acompañar el vestido con unos botines con poco tacón, mi amado abrigo de pelo de Pepe Jeans y con un clutch de la colección Andy Warhol de Pepe Jeans.

New Year's Eve was just a few days ago, and this is one of the most expected nights of the year and, without any doubts, the night in which I spend more time looking for the perfect dress. This year I wanted to find something simple and elegant, with a good cut but in which the star was my body and not the dress volume and, under my surprise, I found it in Bershka. I decided to wear the dress together with low heel boots, mi beloved faux fur coat from Pepe Jeans and a Pepe Jeans clutch from the Andy Warhol collection.
